This story, published in COSMOS Magazine, confirms the eminently quotable William Gibson in his contention that the short story is science fiction’s ideal form.
The story – fast-paced, high-concept, and gratifying – is “800 ms” by David Taub. I’ll be keeping an eye out for more of Taub’s work from now on.
(On a related note, COSMOS is where I’ll be interning this summer! It is predominantly a science magazine that also publishes quality SF, glaven.)
